IAS Success Story: He had dreams of becoming an IAS officer and his resolve was as strong as a rock. He left home to achieve his goal. First he worked in a cinema hall and later became a hotel waiter, then he also found time for studies. Despite so much hard work, he failed UPSC not once or twice but six times and in the seventh attempt, his dreams tasted success. This is the story of a man who made his name come true. Circumstances tested him a lot, yet this ‘Ganesh’ of Tamil Nadu achieved ‘victory’.
K. Jaiganesh hails from Tamil Nadu and earned a B.Tech degree from Thanthai Institute of Technology, Vellore. Being the eldest of four siblings, he had to shoulder the burden of family responsibilities. After three failed attempts, Jaiganesh moved out of his village and joined a government institute in Chennai to better prepare for his civil services exam.
From cinema hall to job as a waiter
Jayganesh found it difficult to afford living expenses in the city so he took up an 8-hour job at a cinema hall. However, this hampered his preparation and he failed the exam again. He changed various jobs including working as a waiter. During this time, he got some time to study.
Gave everything in the 7th attempt
K Jayganesh prepared and appeared for the civil services exam several times, but he failed every time. He appeared for the exam six times and failed every time, but he did not give up. He is still preparing and hopes to pass the exam next time. Despite continuous failures in the civil services exam, Jayganesh did not give up. Even after failing for the sixth time, he started preparing again and finally achieved success with his perseverance and dedication. He continued preparing for the exam and worked as best as he could on his shortcomings. Jay appeared for the exam for the 7th time with full preparation and this time he secured 156th rank.
