Urban Development Ministry Serves Second Notice To TMC Leader Mahua Moitra To Vacate Government House

Mahua Moitra News: The Urban Development Ministry on Thursday (January 11) gave a second notice to TMC leader Mahua Moitra to vacate her government residence. News agency ANI gave this information quoting sources. According to sources, Mahua Moitra has to reply to this notice by 16 January.

Recently, the Directorate of Estate under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had asked Moitra to vacate the official bungalow, sometime after she was expelled from the Lok Sabha in the ‘cash-for-query’ case.

Mahua Moitra had approached the Delhi High Court demanding cancellation of the notice issued by the Estate Ministry to vacate her Delhi government residence.

What did Mahua Moitra say in her petition in the High Court?

The petition said that a notice was issued to them on December 11, 2023, in which they were directed to vacate the house by January 7, otherwise action would be initiated under the relevant law. In the petition of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections A request has been made to allow him to retain possession of his official residence till the results of the C.E.

The petition also states that the absence of government accommodation poses a significant hindrance in the petitioner’s ability to host and engage with party members, MPs, fellow leaders, etc., especially ahead of the general elections.

Meanwhile, on January 3, the Supreme Court asked the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha to file a reply to the petition of Mahua Moitra, in which she has challenged her expulsion from the Lok Sabha in the cash-for-query case.

Mahua Moitra is being expelled from Lok Sabha

Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha after discussion on the Ethics Committee report on the ‘cash for query’ case tabled in the Lower House on December 8, 2023. On not being allowed to speak during the discussion inside the House, Moitra had said that the Ethics Committee broke every rule. Mahua alleged that he was found guilty of violating a code of conduct that does not exist.

The report of the Ethics Committee probing Mahua Moitra’s unethical conduct had recommended that the TMC leader be expelled from the Lok Sabha and demanded a thorough, legal, institutional investigation by the Central government in a time-bound manner.

The report was adopted by the panel last month by a 6:4 majority. Reports on Moitra’s cash-for-query case revealed that she visited the UAE four times from 2019 to 2023, while her login was accessed multiple times.
