US Ambassador Eric Garcetti’s visit was postponed on Monday due to student protests on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. JNU Students Union was protesting against the campus visit of the American Ambassador. The US Ambassador was to come to the JNU campus to attend the program of the School of International Studies, but the student union was opposing the US Ambassador’s visit to the campus since morning. On the other hand, JNU administration says that the next date for the program will be decided.

JNU Students Union President Dhananjay said that on Monday, a program was being organized by the School of International Studies on the topic of India-America, the most important relationship of the century. That is why American Ambassador Eric Garcetti was called on behalf of the School of International, but the student union was opposing the visit of the American Ambassador from the beginning. The student union had given a call for protest against the visit of the American Ambassador. US Ambassador Eric Garcetti could not come on Monday due to student protests.

Dhananjay said that the student union was opposing inviting the US Ambassador to the program to show solidarity with Palestine. The American ambassador did not attend the program but the students continued protesting. Outside the venue, students continued protesting by writing slogans like Free Palestine, No more money for Netanyahu and Stop Genocide. At the same time, there was objection to the increasing cases of murder of Indian students in America.
