America Hikes Visa Charge: The US has announced a huge increase in fees for various categories of non-immigrant visas like H-1B, L-1 and EB-5, the most popular among Indians. For the first time since 2016, the fee is being increased, which will be effective from April 1. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to hire foreign workers in specialized occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
Technology companies depend on this policy to hire thousands of employees every year from countries like India and China. The US government launched the EB-5 program in 1990, which enables foreign investors to obtain US visas for themselves and their families by investing a minimum of US$500,000 in a US business.
When will the new rule come into effect?
The EB-5 program helps provide jobs to 10 American workers. According to the new fee rate which is going to be implemented from April 1, the H-1B application visa fee under Form I-129 has been increased from US $ 460 to US $ 780. H-1B registration fee will increase from US $ 10 to US $ 215 from next year.
According to a federal notification issued on Wednesday (January 31), the fee for L-1 visa has been increased from US$460 to US$1,385 and the fee for EB-5 visa, popularly known as investor visa, has been increased from US$3,675 to US$11,160. It has become US dollar.
What is L-1 visa?
L-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa category in the US. It allows multinational companies to temporarily transfer some employees from their overseas offices to work in the US. The Department of Homeland Security said in its federal notification that the net cost, benefit and transfer payments will be based on fee adjustments with changes to the forms and fee structure used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
