Now students will get US visa by spending $ 25 more than before. The US Department of States has increased the processing fee on non-immigrant visas (NIV). According to this, for visitor visa i.e. business or tourism (B1/B2 and BCC) as well as for non-petition based NIV like student or exchange visitor visa etc. now $ 185 will have to be paid. Earlier this price was 160 dollars.

New prices will be applicable from this date

The new prices for US visa will be applicable from 30 May 2023. Talking about the current exchange rate, Indian students will have to pay Rs 15,140 to get a US visa. This will happen when the new rules come into force.

Fees will also increase for these

Some petition-based non-immigrant visas, which are for temporary workers, such as H, L, O, P, Q and R categories, will also see a jump in visa prices. Their price, which was earlier $190, has now been increased to $205.

When was the fee increased before this

Visa fees have also been increased from $205 to $315 for treaty traders, treaty investors and treaty applicants who are in a specialty occupation (E category). Apart from this, there has been no change in the remaining fees. Let us tell you that most of the non-petition based NIV fees were last updated in 2012, while some fees were updated in 2014.

Record students go from India

A record number of Indian students go to the United States every year. If we want to talk in numbers, then in the year 2022, about 1,25,000 Indian students had taken US visa. Similarly, this year a large number of Indian students are expected to apply for visas. But this time the students will have to pay a higher price.
