Candidates can spend a maximum amount of Rs 95 lakh in Lok Sabha elections. After the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct, in view of the guidelines of the Election Commission, the District Election Officer has formed 121 teams in the district to ensure that the Election Code of Conduct is followed and to monitor the election expenditure.

As soon as the bugle of Lok Sabha elections is sounded, eight Model Code of Conduct Teams (MCC) have become active at the headquarters and assembly level to monitor the rules of the code of conduct. Apart from this, 24 flying squads and permanent surveillance teams, 24 video surveillance teams, eight assistant expenditure observers, 16 video observation teams, 24 accounting teams, a media certification team as well as an expenditure monitoring control and call center have been established. These teams will keep an eye on every activity of the candidates, from election expenses to code of conduct violations.

According to Assistant District Election Officer Dayashankar Upadhyay, candidates will be given a register in which they will enter the details of election expenses. The District Election Office will also maintain a register to record the expenditure details of the candidates. Later both the registers will be matched. Video surveillance and other teams will also keep an eye on the expenditure of the candidates.

Permission will have to be taken for publicity vehicles

For election campaign, candidates will have to take permission for vehicles from the Returning Officer. RO will issue permission as to how many vehicles each candidate can use in campaigning. Apart from this, pasting banners and posters for publicity on properties and buildings of government offices, municipal corporation, district panchayat has been banned. If banners and posters are found on the walls, it will be considered a violation of the code of conduct.
