Four people, including three shopkeepers from Dalmandi, were arrested by the Chowk police from Agrasen Tirahe on Wednesday on charges of buying and selling stolen mobile phones. 21 stolen Android mobile sets were recovered from their possession. The lock of mobile phones stolen from cities like Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Gorakhpur etc. used to open in Dalmandi. Police have also started investigating the role of other shopkeepers of Dalmandi.

DCP Kashi Zone RS Gautam said that the arrested accused include Hrithik Soni, resident of Bhorupur of Jigna police station area of Mirzapur, Irfan, a shopkeeper of Dalmandi, resident of Pakki Bazar Cantt, Rashid Ahmed, a resident of Suzabad Padav and Mohammad Reyaz, resident of Dalmandi, accused of opening the mobile lock. .
During interrogation, the accused told that Hrithik Soni used to bring stolen mobile, whose lock was opened by Mohammad Reyaz in Dalmandi and Irfan, Rashid Ahmed used to sell the mobile. On June 20, Hrithik had befriended two students from Bihar and stole the mobile from the locker on the pretext of visiting Vishwanath temple. Both of them had filed a case. On November 14, the mobile phone of a devotee who had come from Maharashtra was stolen. A case regarding this is also registered in Chowk police station.
