Karnataka News: Right wing groups have again started a campaign to boycott Muslim traders near temple fairs in Karnataka. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have submitted a memorandum to the Tumakuru District Collector. It has been said that shopkeepers of other religions should not be allowed in the temple fair to be held at Gubbi Channabasaveshwar temple from February 25 to March 19.

Pro-Hindu groups also warned of protests in their memorandum submitted to Tumakuru collector YS Patil on Thursday. He said that if businessmen of other religions are allowed to do business directly or indirectly in the premises of the temple or around 100 meters, then there will be a strong protest against it.

demand for legislation

Bajrang Dal leader Manju Bhargava said that Channabasaveshwar Rathotsav will be organized in a grand manner. He also warned of protests if non-Hindus were allowed to do business near the temple. At the same time, Vishwa Hindu Parishad district president GK Srinivas said, “It is very clear that there is no scope for people of other religions to do business in temple premises and religious fairs. This law should be implemented.”

Such incidents have happened before

Earlier this month, in a similar incident, the Mangaluru police removed banners from the Kadri Sri Manjunatha temple fair. In which it was said that Muslim traders cannot do their business near the temple. According to the police, the banners were put up by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. The police also said that these banners mentioned the cooker bomb blast of last year and alleged that the main target of the accused was the Kadri Manjunath temple.

Police said that the banners also said that only traders who believe in the rituals and ceremonies of Hinduism will be allowed to continue their trade and business. Let us tell you that in November last year, banners were also put up in the Champa Shashti ceremony of Kukke Subrahmanya temple demanding a ban on Muslim vendors.
