Vi will launch 5G service in 75 cities by March, tariff plans will be cheaper, increased concern of Jio-Airtel

Now soon Vodafone Idea (Vi) users will be able to take advantage of 5G. The company has planned to launch 5 mobile broadband services in 75 cities of the country by March. The special thing is that the company can keep the price of its 5G plan up to 15 percent lower than that of Jio and Airtel. Due to this, both these companies may also have to reduce their tariff plans in future.

Where will Vi’s 5G service start?

Vi will first launch this service in 75 major cities of the country falling in 17 circles. The company will target those industrial hubs in these cities where data consumption is high. There are also reports that Vi is also considering increasing the dealer commission for this. The company can also increase promotional expenses to attract users from other companies. Vi spent 8.4 percent of its sales on dealer commission in the financial year 2023-24. In comparison, Jio is spending 3 percent and Airtel is spending 4 percent.

Vi hints at cheap plans

Vi CEO Akshay Mundra had indicated some time ago that the company’s 5G recharge plans may be cheaper and the final decision in this regard will be taken as the launch date approaches. However, some experts believe that this decision may have a negative impact on Vi’s revenue. He believes that first the company should stop its declining user base and then compete with its pricing strategy.

Vi will buy 5G equipment from these companies

Vi had recently signed deals worth $3.6 billion with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for equipment used in 5G networks. The company’s target is to create 75,000 5G sites in the next 3 years.
