Attendance of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees will now be done through biometric attendance system. At the same time, regular checks will be done to check whether the employees are drunk. DTC has started the process of installing 100 attendance systems and 100 breath analyzers (to test for intoxication) in bus stands. A tender has been issued for this. The company that gets the work will also have to maintain it for three years. According to senior officials of the transport department, the face recognition based biometric attendance system will accurately track employee attendance. Many such cases have come to light in which bus drivers finish one shift during the day and start another shift. In such a situation, the driver does not get adequate rest and there remains a risk of road accidents. Due to this, employees will not be able to do double shifts. At present, in-time and out-time of employees are recorded in manual register as per shift timing. Later it is updated in Excel. DTC currently has 30,000 employees on its payroll.
