On Saturday, women of Bengali community bid farewell to Maa Durga by organizing traditional Sindoor Khela in Durgabari courtyard of Samastipur city. In this colorful program organized on the occasion of Vijayadashami, women in traditional costumes were seen applying vermillion to each other. After worshiping Goddess Durga, he donated vermilion and bid farewell to the mother respectfully. Then played vermillion Holi with each other. On this occasion, along with dancing and singing, Maa Durga was also invited to come again next year.
Bengali tradition and importance of Sindoor Khela
Chairperson of this event, Mandir Palit told that vermilion has special significance in Bengali society. On the day of Dashami, Maa Durga is bid farewell like a daughter, just as a daughter is bid farewell to her maternal home. Sindoor game is done to wish the mother, in which women apply vermillion on each other and wish for their marital happiness and prosperity. Palit said that today, while there is sadness in the departure of Maa Durga, there is also happiness in her early arrival next year. We pray to Mother Goddess for peace and happiness and prosperity in the entire world.
The tradition has been going on for 91 years
This puja in Bengali culture has been organized in Durgabari of Samastipur for the last 91 years. In this Durgabari located in Bahadurpur, people of Bengali community perform ritual worship of Maa Durga every year. Educational and cultural programs are also organized here during Saptami, Ashtami and Navami days. These include programs like painting competition, rangoli competition and folk dance.

This year also various competitions were organized among the children by the Puja Committee, in which the children securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were awarded. The children participating in these programs showed their artistry and creativity, which was appreciated by the people of the society.
