Waqf Amendment Bill: Ever since the matter of Wakf Board Bill Amendment has come into the limelight, many new controversies related to Wakf Board are coming to the fore. Where AIMIM leader Waris Pathan also raised questions on the MPs of Uddhav faction. Things got worse on this.

Actually, on Saturday (17th August) in Mumbai, when the Waqf Board Amendment Bill was being discussed with some Muslim organizations and AIMIM leaders, the people sitting in the meeting clashed with each other. Some people in the meeting said that Uddhav Thackeray should answer why his MPs were not present when this bill was presented. Some Muslim supporters of Uddhav’s group got angry over this. After which the matter started getting worse.

At the same time, people from the Uddhav faction present in the meeting said that this should not be made a political issue and a debate started. Meanwhile, AIMIM party’s Waris Pathan also raised questions on the MPs of the Uddhav faction.

JPC meeting will be held on August 22 regarding Wakf Board

However, the first meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 will be held on August 22 at the Parliament House Annexe in Delhi. In which representatives of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Ministry of Law and Justice will give information about the bill to the members.

The work of managing the Waqf property is done by the Waqf Board. It is a legal entity. There is a Waqf Board in every state of the country. Registration of properties in the Waqf Board is mandatory. The board registers, manages and protects the properties. The board is headed by a chairman in every state. Currently, there are two types of Waqf boards in the country, Shia and Sunni. Apart from managing the Waqf properties, the board constructs and maintains educational institutions, mosques, cemeteries and night shelters from the donations received in the Waqf.
