The Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday (April 6) that there is a possibility of heat wave in many states of South India during the next two days.

Apart from this, there will also be relief rain in some states of Eastern and North-Eastern India. Along with the capital Delhi, the heat is going to continue till Monday in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana.

Heat wave alert in these states

According to the IMD report, heat wave will prevail in Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, North Karnataka, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. There will be hot and humidity-filled weather in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from 5 to 9 April.

In the latest update of the Meteorological Department, it has been said that during the next two days, heat wave conditions are likely to persist in parts of eastern and peninsular India till next week. According to the department, the areas where heat wave will be seen till Monday include Jharkhand, Vidarbha, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha.

At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Arunachal Pradesh till April 9. There may be rain in Assam and Meghalaya from 7 to 8 April. Let us tell you that at the beginning of this week, the Meteorological Department had made it clear that between the months of April and June, there will be severe heat in many parts of the country and heat waves will also occur.

What is heat wave?

According to weather experts, a heat wave is considered when the maximum temperature reaches at least 40 degrees Celsius or more for plain areas and at least 30 degrees Celsius or more for hilly areas. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid exposure to heat, wear light-colored, loose, cotton clothes, cover their heads, use hats or umbrellas.
