The effect of pre-monsoon rains has started to be seen in most parts of Uttar Pradesh including the capital Lucknow. The areas which had not yet received the pre-monsoon rains also got wet on Monday. The weather changed in Lucknow as well and clouds covered the sky from afternoon onwards, there were chances of a storm but strong winds kept blowing. After this, the rains intensified.
According to the Meteorological Department, this trend will continue and in the meantime the monsoon may also enter. According to the Regional Meteorological Center Lucknow, at present the monsoon is stationary very close to Sonbhadra. The conditions remain favorable, it may enter the state soon.

On Monday, Uttar Pradesh received an average rainfall of 1.2 mm till 8.30 am. Kasganj received the highest rainfall of 8.7 mm. Agra, Bareilly, Etawah, Firozabad, Hamirpur, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Mainpuri, Sambhal, Ambedkarnagar, Azamgarh, Barabanki, Chitrakoot, Gonda, Jaunpur, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kheri, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Sonbhadra and Varanasi also received good rainfall.

An orange alert has been issued for Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Ambedkar Nagar. A yellow alert has been issued for Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Kannauj, Kanpur rural and city, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Auraiya, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur and surrounding areas.
