When the police reached the village again to arrest the accused who was taken into custody, a fierce confrontation was seen between the women and the policemen. The local people opposed the police, after which they had to return from the spot without arresting the accused.

Governor sought report on Sandeshkhali from CM Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose said that he is concerned about the post-election violence in Sandeshkhali. He asked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to immediately intervene and restore peace there. The governor said that he has asked Mamata Banerjee to immediately submit a report on the post-election violence in Sandeshkhali. There has been a lot of politics over the incidents of violence in Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district. This issue was also hot during the elections.

If the attacks continue, I will open the doors of the Raj Bhavan for the people: Governor

According to PTI, the governor said, “I am concerned about the situation in Sandeshkhali. I have come to know about the incidents of attack on women in Sandeshkhali within a few hours of the voting ending. I have written a letter to the chief minister to know the steps taken in this regard. If such attacks continue and people are tortured, I will open the doors of the Raj Bhavan for them to come and stay. They will be given safe shelter here.”

People are being threatened: Amit Malviya

Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Malviya said that TMC goons are threatening people. He posted a video of Sandeshkhali and said, “After the polling day, efforts are being made to scare the people of Sandeshkhali again. This is the situation of booth number 35, Sarberia, Sandeshkhali. Police is threatening people in connivance with TMC goons. He said, after June 4, they will make all women widows. BJP leadership is currently on the spot.”
