In California, America, a woman’s children did something on the beach, due to which she was fined Rs 73 lakh. Now you must be wondering what the children did on the beach that their mother was fined lakhs.

The incident is from California, USA, where a woman had taken her children for a stroll on the beach. Here her children collected 72 clams from the seashore thinking they were seashells. Charlotte Russ and her children had gone to Pismo Beach. This beach is known all over the world as the Clam Capital.

 Claims were submitted without license

Charlotte was shocked when an officer from the Department of Fish and Wildlife gave her a ticket and said that her five children had collected clams without a license.

The woman was shocked to see the amount of the fine

According to media reports, Charlotte Russ said that her children thought that Lah was collecting seashells from the seashore, but he was actually collecting clams. Charlotte said that when she started returning from the beach, she saw a ticket and was shocked. In that ticket, he was asked to pay a fine.

Organisms die when the clam is opened

Charlotte said that seashells often come floating along with water to the sea shore and there is no problem in picking them up, but her children had collected clams, which are found only after a lot of searching and have organisms inside them. After opening these clams, the organisms inside them die.

However, when Charlotte explained its mistake and explained the whole matter to the County Judge of St. Louis Office, its fine was reduced from 73 lakhs to 500 dollars.

Tell children the difference before going to the beach

Actually, the rules made for clams have been implemented to protect this species. Lieutenant Matthew Gill of the Department of Fish and Wildlife said that these rules have been made so that shellfish can grow up to four and a half inches and lay eggs every year. Lieutenant Gill also said that before going to the beach, definitely tell your children what is the difference between a seashell and a clam.

Both shells of a clam are attached to each other

He said if you find a dead sand dollar, a dead animal or a broken seashell on the beach, there’s no harm in collecting it, but in case of clams, he said both the shells of the clam are attached to each other and if they don’t separate easily, it means the clam is alive.
