What happens to country liquor that makes it poisonous?


There are people all over the world who are fond of drinking alcohol. However, there are different categories of alcohol drinkers. Some people like to drink foreign liquor. Because country liquor is much cheaper than foreign liquor. 

Country liquor is poisonous

Country liquor shops are open on government license in different states of the country. But apart from this, in many places and especially in rural areas, people run illegal liquor distilleries, where desi liquor or alcohol is available at cheap rates. Many times the liquor made in illegal liquor distilleries becomes poisonous, due to which many people die.  

Process of making liquor 

Let us tell you that there is no special difference in the making of desi and English liquor. The method of making both of them is almost the same. Desi liquor is traditionally prepared by a process which has been going on for decades. In which it is mostly made from molasses and other agricultural products. You must have seen that desi liquor is available in polythene bags or plastic bottles. Desi liquor is known by different names in different parts of the country.

Why is desi liquor dangerous?

About two-thirds of the liquor sold in India is desi liquor. According to information, about 242 million cases of Desi liquor are sold in India. This is more than 30 percent of the country’s liquor industry. Also, it is growing at the rate of seven percent every year. The percentage of alcohol in it is only up to 42.5. Drinking Desi liquor can also be harmful, because it is not distilled more than once.

 Illegal liquor distillery 

Dr. C.M. Singh, Superintendent of All India Institute of Medical Science Patna, had told the media that the things used in illegally prepared liquor convert it into methyl alcohol instead of ethyl alcohol. He told that as soon as the liquor turns into methyl alcohol instead of ethyl alcohol, it becomes poisonous. After this, the alcohol present in it directly affects the brain of the drinkers.
