Vegan dieters suffer from calcium and protein deficiency as compared to meat eaters. Due to this, the risk of bone fracture is 43% higher. According to research published in BMC Journal, research was done for 10 years on 1000 people who took vegan diet. Research revealed that cases of fractures were seen in their hip, leg bone and back bone. Diet expert and researcher Tammy Tong says, hip fractures are 2.3 times more common in vegan dieters as compared to meat eaters. According to research, people who take vegan diet suffer from calcium and protein deficiency along with decrease in body mass index.
