A case had also come up in 2019
Earlier, a similar case had come up in Noida on 21 January 2019. Had happened. The accused in this case was Akbar Ali, who was 65 years old. According to the police, Ali was a resident of West Bengal and had come to Noida to meet his daughter. Here he called a 3-year-old girl living next to his daughter’s house on the pretext of giving her toffee and digitally raped her. Akbar Ali was also punished in this case.
What is digital rape
If you are thinking that digital rape means watching online porn. Or if you commit any online crime then you are wrong. Actually, digital rape means when the accused sexually assaults the victim with his hands or toes. This law came after the Nirbhaya case. This law was approved in the year 2013. According to this, forceful penetration with a finger or thumb was considered a sexual offense and was kept under the category of Section 375 and POCSO Act. How much is the punishment?
In the case that came to light in the year 2019, the convict was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Court of Gautam Buddha Nagar. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on him. Actually, most of the victims in this case are girls, hence action is taken against the accused under the POCSO Act. Considering the seriousness of the crime, there is a provision for punishment ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment in the POCSO Act. And if the victim dies, the accused can also be sentenced to death.
