According to the Central Disease Control, when a child is born, there are 46 chromosomes in his body which he gets from his parents. Of these, the child gets half from the mother and half from the father. Children born with congenital conditions like Down syndrome have an extra chromosome 21, thus making the child have 47 chromosomes, which hinders the child’s physical and mental development. According to experts, usually pregnant women of 35 years and above are more likely to have this condition. In such a situation, they are advised to get a screening test done. Through the screening test, it is known whether the child is suffering from Down syndrome or not?

The symptoms of Down syndrome generally vary from person to person. Although these symptoms can be seen in children.

Children suffering from Down syndrome may also have to face many other problems. Such as deafness, weak eyes, cataract, difficulty in breathing during sleep, obesity, thyroid, Alzheimer’s heart related problems.

How to take care of children with down syndrome

Give a balanced diet to the child, because the immunity of such children is weak, due to which they are more prone to infection, get regular physical exercise, the habit of regular exercise will help in keeping the child active, it also boosts immunity. Will happen and the child will also bring better changes in mental condition. Get speech therapy for a child suffering from down syndrome. This will improve their speaking ability.
