Presently there are 18 zones in Indian Railways. Out of which, with the completion of electrification work on Subhagpur-Pachperwa rail section of North Eastern Railway, 6 rail zones, North Eastern Railway, East Coast Railway, North Central Railway, Eastern Railway, South Eastern Railway and West Central are fully electrified. have passed. Of these, the North Eastern Railway is the newest. Apart from this, the Jhansi-Muzaffarpur-Katni rail section has also been fully electrified, which is one of the busiest rail sections of the entire rail network.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had told during the announcements of Budget 2023 that Rs 2.4 lakh crore has been spent on Railways as well. During his speech, the Finance Minister also mentioned the Green Railway. Here green means green energy i.e. green energy (hydrogen). In this way, Green Railway means hydrogen trains. The Finance Minister had also said during the budget announcement that Indian Railways would soon become 100% green railway of the world. The government aims that Indian Railways will become number one in the world by the year 2030 by achieving the goal of net zero carbon emissions.

What is green rail or hydrogen train

A hydrogen train is a train that runs on hydrogen. Electricity and diesel are saved in these trains.
