It is made in only 2 or 3 states across India. One state Maharashtra is also included in them. Very few people know this dish. But today on Local 18 we will tell you in detail about this dish, how it is prepared and what is its specialty.

While talking to the Local 18 team, Pius Rodrigues, who runs the business of Sukeli, said that it takes a lot of hard work to make Sukeli. The banana used in making it is brought from Chennai, which is left to ripen for a few days. He told that it is cooked without chemicals, due to which the banana gets cooked properly in 3 to 4 days. After the bananas are ripe, 800 to 1000 bananas are peeled at one time and left to dry on the terrace for 15 days. After this, it is packed and sold in every corner of the country as per the demand of the customers. Apart from these, orders also keep coming from Uttarakhand, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh.

Business changes over time
Pius Rodrigues further told that Sukeli business is being done since the time of his father and grandfather. He said that at present only 2 people make Sukeli in entire Maharashtra. He said that Sukeli is sold packed in banana leaves and wrapped in paper. He told that Sukeli is sold at the rate of Rs 600 per kg. One kilo of sukeli contains 25 sukeli of small banana and 16 sukeli of big banana.
