– Sattu is made by grinding roasted gram (Bengal gram). Many times the powder is made along with the peel, hence it remains very light and coarse.
– It is used in the form of Sattu laddu, Sattu chokha, Sattu paratha, Sattu halwa, Sattu drink etc.
– Due to roasting its shelf life is more than six months.
– The color of Sattu is not completely yellow like gram flour. Looks slightly dark. It is ground coarsely.
– This is roasted Bengal gram flour which does not taste bitter.
– It is not available everywhere except Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal. It is difficult to buy Sattu from every general store.
– 1 cup of Sattu flour can be prepared at home by grinding 2 cups of roasted chana dal. You can use coarse powder or sift it once.
