What are Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha called in Pakistan?
Let us tell you that like the Lok Sabha of India, the National Assembly i.e. National Assembly works in Pakistan. Parliament in Pakistan is called Majlis-e-Shura. Like India, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha function in Pakistan also. However, in Pakistan they are known by different names. For example, in India, the lower house is called Lok Sabha and the upper house is called Rajya Sabha. Whereas in Pakistan, the lower house i.e. National Assembly is called Qaumi Assembly and the upper house i.e. Senate is called Aiwan-e-Bala.
How does the Parliament of Pakistan work
The National Assembly of Pakistan i.e. the National Assembly works like the Lok Sabha. However, in the Indian Parliament the President is not a part of the Parliament and here the President is also a part of the Parliament. The President participates in both houses of Pakistan.
Let us tell you that there are 342 members in the National Assembly of Pakistan, out of which only 272 are elected by direct voting. There is no election for the remaining 70 candidates. Apart from this, there are 10 seats which are reserved for the traditional and religious minority communities of Pakistan. They are elected under the rule of proportional representation.
How does Aiwan-e-Bala work
Pakistan’s Aiwan-e-Bala works like the Rajya Sabha of India, which is also called the Senate. It never dissolves, although its members keep changing from time to time. The tenure of the members here is 6 years. Aiwan-e-Bala has many special rights. Which are not even with the National Assembly.
