We are living in the 21st century, where new dimensions of technology and development are being established. But in a developing country like India, many villages are still struggling with lack of basic facilities. A living example of this is Angara village located near Nandesari industrial area in Vadodara district of Gujarat.
Girls not ready to marry
A strange problem has arisen in this village. The young women here are not ready to marry village boys. You will be surprised to know the reason. There is a serious water problem in this village. People here are deprived of clean drinking water, and the groundwater is so polluted that red colored water comes out of borewells.
Red water spoiled life
The pollution of groundwater in the village is such that the local people depend on tankers for drinking water. Due to lack of clean water, not only has life become difficult, but agriculture here is also being affected. The problem of red water has badly shaken agriculture and the rural economy.
Who is responsible for pollution?
Decades ago, some irresponsible companies discharged their waste and polluted water into the ground without treatment in the Nandesari industrial area. Its impact was so severe that all the water sources – borewells, wells, and lakes – in the villages within a radius of 10 kilometers became polluted. Today, wherever a borewell is dug in this area, red colored water comes out.
youth migration
This serious water problem has forced the youth here to leave the village and try to settle in other places. No girl is ready to marry the village boys, and this problem has become a social and economic crisis for the entire village.
local demand
The people of the village are extremely troubled by this water crisis. They want the government and concerned officials to solve this problem as soon as possible. Also, efforts should be made to improve the groundwater level and make the water clean. Only then will the people of the village be able to live a normal life and the youth here will be able to shape their future.
