Sunlight on Earth: We get light and energy from the sun. All plants also remain alive through the process of photosynthesis. When there is a total solar eclipse, even the day becomes like night for a while. Sunlight stops coming in some parts of the earth and it seems that there is darkness. However, this condition remains for some time and after some time everything becomes fine. The sun starts appearing again. But what if sunlight stopped coming to Earth altogether? Many people must be thinking that if this happens then it will be night on the earth. Apart from night, there will be some changes on the earth which will happen gradually. Let us know what these changes will be and how they will happen…
temperature will not drop suddenly
If you put hot tea in the fridge, will it cool down immediately? No, but it will take time to cool down. Similarly, if there is no sunlight, the earth will also cool down, but it will take some time. According to an article in Popular Science Magazine, our Earth will not cool completely for millions of years due to its rotation in space. However, without sunlight, the Earth’s temperature would drop and then go into minus.
Temperature will be 0 degree in a week
When the sunlight and heat will not reach the earth, then in a week the temperature of the earth’s surface will go below zero degree. There will be snow everywhere and life will be difficult. Gradually the temperature will move towards minus and will go up to -100 degree throughout the year. The upper layers of the sea will also turn into ice, but when going deep, water will remain. That’s why the oceans will never completely turn into solid ice. After millions of years, the temperature of the earth will stabilize at -400 degree.
Who will survive at -400 degree temperature?
Within a few days after the sun disappears, the population of the earth will end. The process of photosynthesis will stop, due to which all the flora of nature i.e. trees and plants will end in a few weeks. It is possible that large trees can live for a few years due to their metabolism. Since the food would have run out, all the animals would also die soon. However, even at this temperature, some very small animals living on the earth, which are called microorganisms, will remain alive.
