WhatsApp Global Security Center: To better protect users’ privacy and protect them from scammers, Meta has opened the WhatsApp Global Security Center, which will tell people how they can avoid scams. WhatsApp has created this page so that people can be informed about the security features available on the app. This page will support English and 10 other languages which include Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu and Gujarati.
The company has launched this page when last month the Government of India had asked WhatsApp to take action against calls coming from unknown and foreign numbers. In fact, last month many people had complained on Twitter that they are suddenly getting calls and SMS from foreign numbers on WhatsApp. These spam calls were mostly coming to people from African and South East Asian countries.
‘Stay Safe With WhatsApp’ campaign
The Global Security Center will inform users about the security features available on the app. Also will share some tips with the help of which users can make their profile more secure on the app. Last month in India, the company started the ‘Stay Safe With WhatsApp’ campaign, in which users were told about the features that improve their privacy on the app. The company informed people about 2FA, Block and Report, recently launched Chat Lock and other features that keep them safe from scams on the app.
Recently launched chat lock feature
WhatsApp has recently rolled out the Chat Lock feature which allows users to lock their Saucy chats. Users can lock chats with the help of fingerprint. On locking the chat, it will be moved to another folder and no one will be able to see its contents.
