Wheat sowing area increased to 325 lakh hectare

According to media reports, the figures of the Ministry of Agriculture till December 30 have been revealed. According to him, sowing of Rabi season crops is in the last stage. Till December 30, the area under wheat sowing in the country has increased to 325.10 lakh hectare. This is an increase of 3.59 percent as compared to last year. Last year, the status of wheat acreage was 313.81 lakh hectare.

Uttar Pradesh number 1 in wheat sowing

The major crops of Rabi season are wheat, maize, jowar, gram and mustard. Their sowing lasts from October to December, while harvesting is done in March-April. The central government has released the wheat sowing figures in all the states. Among these, Uttar Pradesh is on top. 3.59 lakh hectare in Uttar Pradesh, 2.52 lakh hectare in Rajasthan, 1.89 lakh hectare in Maharashtra, 1.10 lakh hectare in Gujarat, 0.87 lakh hectare in Bihar, 0.85 lakh hectare in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh 0.66 lakh hectare, 0.21 lakh hectare in West Bengal, Sowing has been done in 0.08 lakh hectare in Jammu and Kashmir, 0.02 lakh hectare in Assam and 0.03 lakh hectare in Jharkhand.

Record production expected this time

The official of the Ministry of Agriculture told that Uttar Pradesh is a big state in terms of wheat sowing. So far, wheat has been sown in only about one percent of the area in the state. Sugarcane harvesting is going on in the state. In such a situation, it is expected that the farmer will sow wheat after harvesting sugarcane. Looking at the status of wheat sowing across the country, it is expected that this time there can be a record production of wheat.

Export of both wheat and rice increased

According to commerce ministry data, wheat exports have increased by 29.29 per cent to USD 1.50 billion during April to November of the current financial year. Last year the export figure stood at $1.17 billion. Due to rising prices of wheat and flour, the central government had banned exports in May. Later permission was given to export certain wheat with certain conditions. Exports of basmati rice also increased by 39.26 per cent to USD 2.87 billion during April-November 2022. Export of non-basmati rice has increased by 5 percent to $ 4.2 billion.
