Wheat procurement will start from March 1 at 77 purchasing centers in Hathras district. This year the price of wheat has been fixed at Rs 2275 per quintal. This year, for the first time, sharecroppers will also be able to sell their produce at government purchasing centres.

The 77 purchasing centers approved by DM Archana Verma include seven of the Food Department, 66 of the PCF and four wheat purchasing centers of the Food Corporation of India. This year, the support price has been fixed at Rs 2275 per quintal, an increase of Rs 150 compared to last year. District Food Marketing Officer Shishir Kumar said that preparations for wheat procurement have started. Till now wheat was purchased only from farmers, but this time sharecroppers will also be able to sell wheat at government purchasing centres. For this, consent of the original land owner is necessary. Shareholder’s bank account and Aadhaar will also be required for registration. OTP will come on the linked mobile numbers of both. The facility of online registration has been provided to the farmers at the procurement centers only. They will not have to pay any fee for this. The amount of Rs 20 per quintal taken from farmers at the center for cleaning and sifting wheat will also be sent to their accounts along with payment.

For the sale of wheat, farmers can register on the website of the Food Department from their mobile, Kisan Mitra app or through the QR code given in the banner displayed at the purchasing centers. At the time of selling wheat, a photocopy of Aadhar card and Khatauni will have to be brought along with the registration form. Also, Aadhaar card will have to be linked to the bank account and the bank account will have to be mapped to NPCI, so that payment for the wheat sold can be received on time.
