When and who needs insulin in diabetes, know everything about insulin…

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, lodged in Tihar Jail, is a diabetes patient and he is demanding insulin from the jail administration every day. There is a special connection between a diabetic patient and insulin. Today in this article we will know in detail what is insulin? When do diabetic patients need it.

What is insulin?

Insulin is a special type of hormone. Which is produced naturally in the body and balances the glucose level in the blood. Now you must have understood how important insulin is in our body. If insulin is not released or does not function properly in the body, then the person becomes a diabetes patient. Not every sugar patient needs insulin, but some diabetes patients need it a lot.

What is the function of insulin?

Instead of controlling the sugar level in the blood, insulin also works to control body fat. Uses the fat stored in the body. Insulin works to provide energy to every cell of the body. That is, it works to deliver limited amount of glucose to every cell. Insulin is what keeps our body active. If there is any problem in this process, your body feels tired.

Where and how is insulin made in the body

Pancreas produces insulin in the body. When the amount of sugar or glucose in the blood increases after eating food, insulin helps to balance it. If a person is a diabetes patient then why is insulin injection required? People who have type 1 diabetes require insulin injections. The insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas get destroyed after a time due to which insulin is no longer produced. Whereas insulin is produced in the body of a person with type 2 diabetes but it does not work properly. That’s why they are given medicine.

When and how do diabetic patients take insulin

Type 1 diabetes patients require insulin. The insulin produced in the body and the one injected are different. Diabetes patients take insulin through injection. It contains an insulin whose effect starts 15 minutes after taking it. And its effect lasts for 4 hours. The second one starts taking effect after 30 minutes. Its effect lasts for 6 hours. There is also an insulin injection which remains effective for 2 hours after taking it and its effect lasts for 12 hours. The effect of the fourth and last insulin remains on the body for 24 hours.
