Howrah An incident happened at the railway station which highlighted the readiness of the Railways and their sensitivity towards the passengers. A groom and his family, traveling from Mumbai to Guwahati, faced an unexpected problem. But the problem could be solved due to the wisdom and prompt action of the railway officials.

Difficulties increased near Howrah
When the train was about 15 kilometers from Howrah, Chandrashekhar Bagh, the head of the groom, realized that it might be difficult to reach the wedding ceremony on time. The challenge of changing platforms became a big problem for the elderly and families traveling with children. The groom’s family felt that it might not be possible to attend the wedding.

Help sought from railway officials
Seeing the serious situation, Chandrashekhar Bagh immediately contacted the Divisional Railway Manager and Senior DCM of Howrah. He explained his problem and requested for help. Railway officials showed promptness and directed the employees posted at Howrah station to make special arrangements.

Problem solved through special corridor
As soon as Gitanjali Express reached Howrah station, the railway staff prepared a special corridor. Four battery operated cars and wheelchairs were arranged to transport the groom and his family from platform number 21 New Complex to platform number 9 Old Complex. The staff provided every possible help to the groom’s family to reach another train as soon as possible.

More than 12 employees engaged in service
Railways ensured that the entire family could catch the Saraighat Express without any delay. More than 12 railway employees and officers were actively engaged in this process. Due to their collective efforts the groom and his family were able to catch the train to Guwahati.

The groom arrived at the wedding on time
With all the special arrangements and the help of Railways, the groom’s family reached Guwahati on time for the wedding ceremony. As soon as the family reached the venue of the ceremony, their happiness knew no bounds. After the ceremony, the groom’s chief Chandrashekhar Bagh thanked the Railway Minister and all the officers and employees of the Railways on Twitter. He wrote that the sensitive attitude and promptness of the Railways solved his big problem. This incident not only shows the efficiency of the Railways but is also a proof of their responsibility towards the passengers.
