Raj Kapoor had placed a condition
After the birth of Karishma Kapoor, Raj Kapoor refused to go to the hospital. He said that he would go to see the baby only if his eyes were blue.
In the book- Raj Kapoor- The One and Only Show Man, Karisma Kapoor’s mother Babita said, ‘I remember when Lolo (Karisma Kapoor) was born. The whole family was with me at Breach Candy Hospital but my father-in-law was not there. He had put a condition at that time that I will go to the hospital to see the child only if his eyes are blue. Thank God the child’s eyes were blue like my father-in-law’s.’
In this book, Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda revealed what Raj Kapoor’s reaction was when Karisma Kapoor used to say that she would become an actress. She said- Lolo always used to say that she wanted to become an actor and her grandfather always used to say that Karisma would become a big star.
Let us tell you that Karisma Kapoor entered the film industry without her father’s consent. She entered the industry in 1991 with Prem Qaidi. After this, she played lead roles in films like Jigar, Anari, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural. The films were also superhits. Karisma Kapoor became the highest earning actress in the 90s. After acting and dancing in musical films like Raja Hindustani and Dil To Pagal Hai, Karisma Kapoor reached the superstar zone.
