Actually, Tanuja herself told this story during an interview given to Filmfare. Tanuja told that in the year 1965, Dharmendra and Tanuja were playing the lead roles in the film ‘Chand Aur Suraj’.
At that time, Dharmendra was already married and his son Sunny Deol was five years old. Tanuja said that there was a deep friendship between us and we used to sit together and party. Dharmendra even introduced me to his family.
But one day Dharmendra crossed all limits and started flirting with me. Tanuja got very angry at this act of Dharmendra and she slapped him hard.
Tanuja got angry and said to Dharmendra, ‘Shameless, I know your wife and you are daring to flirt with me.’ After this, Dharmendra became very embarrassed and immediately apologized to Tanuja.
Dharmendra told Tanuja, ‘My mother, I am sorry. Please accept me as your brother now.’ Tanuja was very angry and was not ready to accept it.
However, after a lot of persuasion, Tanuja agreed and tied a black thread on Dharmendra’s hand and made him her brother. Tanuja and Dharmendra worked together in many films and even today they are very good friends and brother-sister to each other.
Let us tell you that Tanuja was one of the top Hindi actresses. She has two daughters, Kajol and Tanisha. Both are active in the film industry.
