Notes are printed at four places in India?
If we talk about printing notes, there are a total of four printing presses in India. These are present in Dewas, Nashik, Salboni and Mysore. Two of these printing presses come under the Finance Ministry of the Government of India. So the two printing presses come under the Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI. The printing presses in Dewas and Nashik. They are under the Indian Government. Whereas the printing presses of Salboni and Mysore come under Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited, a subsidiary company of the Reserve Bank of India.
Where is ink made?
The ink used for printing notes is made in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. The dark ink printed on the note. It is manufactured by Swiss company SICPA. Which is present in the state of Sikkim. The mixture of ink coming from abroad is changed so that no one can copy it.
Paper comes from abroad
The paper used in Indian currency is imported from abroad. Which mainly includes countries like United Kingdom, Japan and Germany. According to the information given by RBI in this matter, about 80% of the paper for printing the notes is imported from abroad. So 20% of the paper is made in India only. The only paper mill in India for making paper is in Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh. Where stamp paper and currency notes are made.
