How is OTT earning?
Actually, OTT Platform works in three ways. The first is TVOD i.e. Transactional Video On Demand, the second is SVOD i.e. Subscription Video On Demand and the third is AVOD i.e. Advertising Video On Demand.
- TVOD, that is, when the user downloads something from the platform, he has to pay for it, that is, every time there is a transaction in exchange for the content.
- In SVOD, the user pays once for a month or a few days (according to the plan) and watches his favorite content for a whole month.
- In AVOD, the user does not have to pay any charge, but while watching the content, ads appear several times in between. OTT platforms get paid for these ads as well and the user cannot skip them. OTT platforms earn a lot through these advertisements. This is how OTT platforms earn.
India’s first OTT platform
The OTT platform was started in America, but in today’s time it has a strong craze among the people of India as well. It is noteworthy that even though OTT platforms like Netflix Prime Video or Hotstar are most popular in India, none of them is India’s first OTT platform. In the year 2008, Reliance Entertainment started the OTT platform in India. Reliance Entertainment launched Bigflix, the first OTT platform in India. After that, in the year 2010, Digivive launched OTT mobile app called NEXG TV, which had the facility to watch TV along with video on demand.
