Who Is Ramesh Singh Aarora: Pakistan’s Narowal MLA Ramesh Singh Arora took oath as minister in Pakistan’s Punjab province on Wednesday (March 6). He is the first person from Pakistan’s minority Sikh community to become an MLA. Arora will join the cabinet of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Minister Maryam Nawaf Sharif.

Who is Ramesh Singh Arora?
In the recent elections held in Pakistan, Arora has been elected as MLA from Narowal. Last year he was also appointed as the ambassador for the Kartarpur Corridor. Earlier, Arora was elected President of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (PSGPS) for three years.

Worked for the World Bank
Born in Nankana Sahib, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora has obtained a post graduation degree in Entrepreneurship and SME Management from Government University, Lahore. Before joining politics, Arora worked for the World Bank’s poverty alleviation program in Pakistan.

Establishment of Mojas Foundation
In 2008, he founded Mojas Foundation, an organization working for the underprivileged and poor in Pakistan. Arora’s elder brother Gobind Singh is working as the chief granthi in Kartarpur Gurdwara. Ramesh Singh Arora is a three-time Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Narowal. During Partition in 1947, his family chose to live in Pakistan instead of living in India like the majority of Sikh/Hindu families.
