His idea was that a new country should be created by merging the four major Muslim majority states of India, which should be named Pakistan.
Who was Chaudhary Rahmat Ali
Chaudhary Rahmat Ali was born on 16 November 1897 in Balachaur, Punjab. Now this part of Punjab is in Pakistan. Chaudhary Rahmat Ali was from a good family, hence his education also improved. After receiving primary education, he went to Cambridge University for higher education. However, even after acquiring so much education, the communal thinking within him did not end. This was the reason why after coming back from there he became a supporter of Pakistan. Chaudhary Rahmat Ali’s communal thinking can be gauged from the fact that during his studies around 1930, he wanted that there should be a Muslim country in South Asia.
Even after this, he remained anonymous. Chaudhary Rahmat Ali may have laid the foundation of Pakistan but in the end Mohammad Ali Jinnah won the battle. Taking forward the ideas of Chaudhary Rahmat Ali, Jinnah propagated Pakistan a lot and then took all the credit for the creation of Pakistan by forming his own political party Muslim League. Chaudhary Rahmat Ali, who laid the foundation and ideas of Pakistan, was forced to live a life of anonymity in England in his last days. The situation is such that today perhaps even most of the people of Pakistan do not know who Chaudhary Rahmat Ali was or what he had done to create Pakistan.
