Why are army personnel not included in the SPG deployed for PM Modi’s security?

If there is any biggest post in the country after the President, then it is the post of PM. That is why the security of the person sitting on this post is of utmost importance. Currently, the security of the PM of India is in the hands of Special Protection Group (SPG). This security group was formed in the year 1988.

SPG protects the PM as well as his family members. But do you know that army personnel cannot go in Special Protection Group. Let us give you detailed information related to this in this article today.

How to become an SPG Commando

The process of becoming an SPG (Special Protection Group) Commando is very difficult. To become an SPG Commando, it is mandatory for you to be from CRPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP. Actually, SPG does not do direct recruitment. To get recruited in this, you must be from the Central Police Force or Paramilitary Force.

Apart from this, only those soldiers are recruited in this group whose age is less than 35 years. To get recruited in this force, soldiers have to undergo tough physical and mental tests. Those who are successful in this test are given top class training. In this training, emphasis is laid on different aspects of anti-terrorism activities, bomb disposal techniques, sniper training, driving skills and VIP security.

Why do army soldiers not join SPG?

We searched the internet to get information about this but did not get any exact answer. Everywhere it was written only that Indian Army soldiers cannot become SPG commandos. However, the answer to why they cannot become SPG commandos was not found in clear words anywhere. Well, when we looked into many aspects, we found a technical thing, which could perhaps be the reason behind this.

Actually, CRPF, CISF, BSF and ITBP from where SPG commandos are selected, all report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Even the SPG itself reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Whereas, all three departments of the Indian Army (Army, Navy and Air Force) report to the Ministry of Defense.
