Whereas in some houses of Bengal, after the completion of Saraswati Puja, traditional plum pickle is prepared in the evening.

Plum is also mentioned in many old texts like Brahman Samhita and Ramayana. In the story of Ramayana, Shabari gave the fruit of wild plum to Shri Ram. Apart from this, Lord Vishnu is also considered to be related to the plum tree. Shri Vishnu is called Badri in Sanskrit. Despite having cultural importance, it is not considered right to eat plum before Saraswati Puja in Bengal. 

Importance of Saraswati Puja in Bengal

Saraswati Puja is considered one of the most important festivals of Bengal. Let us tell you that preparations for this festival start many days in advance.
