Due to climate change, underground water is rapidly depleting in the world. Especially fresh water. This is most important for human life. If fresh water is depleted from the earth, it will not take much time for humans and animals to cease to exist. In such a situation, Germany is now working on an option that has been present in India for centuries.
Why is Germany building big wells?
Germany’s capital Berlin is located in a place where drought always persists. Every year in summer, people here have to face the problem of water. In such a situation, now the administration of Berlin has started building big wells in the city. Experts believe that by doing this, Berlin will not only increase the level of its underground water from rainwater. But it will also protect the river from rainwater and dirt flowing in the drain.
Wells are of a different kind
These wells are not like the common Indian wells. Rather, it is like a tank. Not only does water stay in it, but it is also treated and made usable. Germany’s largest basin will be ready in this city by 2026. 17,000 cubic meters of water can be collected in this basin.
How helpful for India
Every year when there is heavy rain, many cities face flood-like situation. Whereas, these same cities struggle with water shortage in summer. In such a situation, if such wells are built in these big cities which not only store rainwater but also increase the water level there, then the people of big cities will not have to face water problem in summer. Apart from this, the dirty water of the city will also collect in these basins and will not be able to pollute the rivers. If the Government of India does something like this in the future, then it can benefit the coming generations for centuries.
