Agra was chosen by BJP for the scheduled Morcha General Conference in Agra. There may be a well thought out strategy behind this. The basic objective is to make a home in the heart of the exploited-deprived society in the stronghold of BSP. Because for the last 16 years, BJP has been facing a direct challenge from BSP on the Agra Lok Sabha seat. Every time the elephant has presented the biggest challenge in the path of the lotus on this seat reserved for the Scheduled Caste.
If we talk about the data of the last four elections held on Agra Lok Sabha seat from 2004 to 2024, BJP has been in control of the city for 15 years out of 20 years. In 2004, BJP candidate Murarilal Mittal was defeated by Rajbabbar on SP ticket. BSP stood third in front of the glamor of cine actor Raj Babbar. But here there was a difference of only 10 thousand votes between BJP and BSP which stood second.
Ramshankar Katheria became MP from BJP in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. BSP’s Kunwarchand Vakil got 1.93 lakh votes and BJP’s 2.03 lakh votes. Here also the difference between victory and defeat was 10 thousand votes. Modi wave came in 2014. While BJP placed its bet on Ramshankar Katheria for the second time, former BSP minister Narayan Singh Suman won.
BJP got 5.83 lakh votes and BSP got 2.83 lakh votes. BJP changed the ticket in 2019. SP Singh Baghel was made the candidate in place of Ramshankar. Here also BSP stood second. BSP’s Manoj Soni got 4.35 lakh votes in 2019 while BJP’s SP Singh got 6.46 lakh votes. In the 2007 assembly elections, BSP had won 6 out of 9 seats in the district. In 2024, again BJP has made SP Singh its candidate from Agra seat. In the conference held on Thursday, everyone from JP Nadda to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath left no stone unturned in helping the Scheduled Castes.
Respect for Baba Saheb is linked to respect for the oppressed.
In the convention of Scheduled Morcha, BJP President JP Nadda and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath linked the respect of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar with the respect of the deprived and exploited society. Said that only the BJP government gave respect to Baba Saheb. The injustice done to the architect of the Constitution was also mentioned. It was said that Congress always opposed Dr. BR Ambedkar. Didn’t let him win the elections. Was not even given Bharat Ratna, whereas Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, while being the current Prime Minister, gave Bharat Ratna to themselves. Our government gave Bharat Ratna to Baba Saheb and now his Panch Teerthsthal is being built. The BJP government is also doing the work of preserving the monuments of great men of the Scheduled Castes. He linked the revival of Bijli Pasi Fort, Suheldev to former President Ramnath Kovind with respect for the exploited society.
