Why were Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan out of the central contract? the reason came to light

The reason behind star cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan being out of BCCI central contract has come to light. According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, the selectors were angry because Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer did not give importance to domestic cricket. The selectors had no doubt about the ability of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, but the attitude of these two players became the reason for their being out of the central contract.

Ishan Kishan maintained distance from the cricket field since the series against South Africa. Ishan Kishan was given the condition of playing Ranji matches to return to the Test team. But Ishan Kishan did not accept this condition. Shreyas Iyer also followed the path of Ishan Kishan. Shreyas Iyer was dropped after the second test against England. Shreyas Iyer made the excuse of injury for not playing Ranji Trophy. However, NCA declared Iyer match fit.

Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah was continuously instructing players not on national duty to play Ranji matches. ESPN Cricinfo report said, “Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer’s method was not right. Ishan Kishan opted to train with Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya in the IPL, while Shreyas Iyer became a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders training camp after being dropped from the team. Both the players did not make themselves available for Ranji Trophy.”

Iyer lied

The report further said, “The selectors have no doubt about his ability. NCA is declaring you match fit. But you are not declaring yourself available for the test series. How can you be offered a BCCI contract?”

However, all roads are not closed for these two players. If Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are successful in performing well in the IPL, then they can return to the list of players with central contracts.
