A tragic accident took place on the national highway in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on Friday afternoon. Husband and wife were hit by a speeding vehicle in front of Naveen Galla Mandi. The woman died on the spot, the husband was injured. Both of them had come from Etah to Agra to meet their son. The son was waiting for his parents to arrive on the other side of the road.

Mohanlal, a resident of Nagla Bhikari village located in Kotwali Dehat of Etah, has retired from the education department. Son Sarvesh Nagla lives on rent in Rambal, Trans Yamuna. He works in a factory. Mohanlal had come to meet his son with his wife Girja Devi (58) on Friday. Naveen reached Galla Mandi by bus at 2 in the afternoon. When the bus stopped, both of them got down.

As we were about to move ahead to cross the highway, other vehicles including trucks and cars came at high speed. Eyewitnesses told the police that both of them tried to escape. But, they got hit by a vehicle. After the accident, the driver ran away with the vehicle. It was not known which vehicle he was hit by. The police took both of them to the hospital. Here Girja Devi was declared dead. Mohanlal’s condition remains critical.

The son was standing on the other side of the road

At this time the accident happened, son Sarvesh was waiting for his parents. He was standing towards Naveen Galla Mandi. After the accident, the police took away Mohanlal and his wife. The son did not know. Later the police called him. Station head Trans Yamuna Sumanesh Vikal said that a case has been registered in the matter on the basis of his son’s complaint. With the help of CCTV footage, the vehicle that caused the accident is being identified.

Mandi committee cut has become a black spot

The new Galla Mandi cut has become a black spot. People have already lost their lives in accidents. Police said that vehicles stop at Naveen Galla Mandi. People who have to go towards Trans Yamuna, cross the road after getting down from the passenger vehicles. There is no railing on the divider here. Vehicles coming from Firozabad side descend from the flyover. Their speed is also higher. People crossing the road are not aware of the speed of vehicles. Because of this they get hit by vehicles.
