will Raghuram Rajan be a MVA Candidate For Rajya Sabha Know this Speculation picking Up Heat

Rajya Sabha Elections 2024: The membership of current Rajya Sabha members from Maharashtra, Prakash Javadekar, Anil Desai, Kumar Ketkar, V Muraleedharan and Narayan Rane is going to end on 02 April 2024. Elections for Rajya Sabha membership are to be held on 27 February. In such a situation, the discussion is gaining momentum that former Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Raghuram Rajan can be sent to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.

It has been claimed in many media reports that Raghuram Rajan can be the candidate of Congress or Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) from Maharashtra. Sharad Pawar’s party NCP and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Congress formed an alliance in Maharashtra which was named MVA.

Why is it being said that Raghuram Rajan will go to Rajya Sabha?

In fact, this discussion started when former RBI Governor Rajan met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai on January 31. After the meeting, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray said in a post on Instagram, “It is indeed a pleasure to host Raghu Rajan ji at our home Matoshree.”

He further said, “In addition to his already extensive contribution to our economy in various roles, including as Governor of the RBI, we strongly believe that the future of the Indian economy must be guided by individuals who have a vision for the future.”

With this meeting of Raghuram Rajan ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, rumors are rife in political circles in Maharashtra that the economist may be nominated as a Congress candidate or a joint candidate of the MVA.

A Hindustan report quoted a leader of the Uddhav Thackeray faction as saying that Rajan may be presented by the Congress as the MVA candidate for Rajya Sabha. This leader said, “In this context, Rajan would have met Thackeray as a courtesy.” However, Congress sources said that nothing has been decided yet.
