Although Chikki Patti is available in many shops, but this shop of Kalavati Gatta Bhandar has been doing this work for more than 100 years. Now the fourth generation people are carrying forward this tradition. In the winter season, the work of making jaggery chikki and patti starts at this shop, which continues for about three to four months. This chikki and patti is made completely by hand, no machine is used in it.

The process of preparing it is done very cleanly and carefully. First of all, jaggery syrup is prepared. When the syrup cools down, it is poured into a big pan and peanuts are added to it. This mixture is shaped like a big roll.

After this, it is spread on a clean surface and rolled with a big rolling pin and cut into equal sizes. For this, special molds are used, through which it is also cut in the shape of biscuits. Chikki of different quality is prepared here. Larger and finest peanuts are used to produce the best quality bars.

What is the rate, where does it go?
The rates of this chikki jaggery bar vary. It starts from ₹80 to ₹100 per kg. Rates are also determined on its quality. The rates of thick and large grained chikki patti range from ₹100 to ₹120 per kg. Its demand is very high in around 10 districts including Kannauj. Nowadays it is also known as desi sweet. People like to eat this instead of sweets after eating food, due to which the food gets digested well.

Businessman Saksham Vaish says that he has been doing the work of making Chikki Patti for a long time. Chikki Patti is formed starting from the month of November till the end of February. This special type of bar is known for its sweetness. People have now started using this bar instead of sweets. It is very tasty to eat and is also beneficial for health. Its rate is also not very high due to which people like it very much. Jaggery is more beneficial for the body than sugar, jaggery is used the most in this bar.
