Bone Donation: A college student from Delhi, who was unable to walk due to the loss of joint bone in his knees, will now be able to walk again. Yes, AIIMS doctors have performed knee surgery on this student and replaced his knee joint bone with the bones of a bone donor. The team of doctors who performed this surgery at AIIMS said that the bones donated by a deceased donor were replaced in place of the knee bone of the left leg of this student. This bone was broken in the accident due to which the student was unable to walk. Doctors said that although bone donation cannot save people’s lives, it can definitely improve people’s lives.
Every day thousands of people in the country break their bones in road accidents. 70 percent of the people who get injured in road accidents are in the age group of 20 to 40 years. Such people often feel difficulty in living life due to broken bones after an accident. In such a situation, with the help of bone bank, they can live an active life again.
