The team that had reached the shortbread seller’s place under the Baraula bridge on ITI Road, Aligarh to collect samples of oil and food items, returned in protest against the women. Due to strong opposition the samples could not be filled. The protesting people had spread oil and other material from the pan, a case has been registered in the matter. A complaint about adulteration by the said shortbread seller was made on the IGRS portal, for which the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) team reached there to investigate.

The team had to face strong opposition from shortbread sellers and local people. It is alleged that hundreds of men and women pushed and misbehaved with the team members. Not only this, the team was not allowed to collect samples while rushing from there. During this, the oil, kachori, samosa, bread pakoda etc. lying in the pan were thrown on the road. Somehow the police reached the area and evacuated the team safely. A case has been registered in the police station in this matter.

Food and Drug Administration Department Commissioner II Sarvesh Mishra said that a complaint was made on the IGRS portal about Sukhram Kachori Bhandar located at Baraula Bridge. According to the complainant, contaminated and adulterated food items are being used in making Kachori, Samosa, Bread Pakoda. To investigate this complaint, on January 24, under the leadership of Chief Food Inspector in-charge Syed Ibaidullah, a team of Food Safety Officer Ashish Kumar Gangwar etc. reached the spot for investigation. After investigation, the team started the process of taking samples. It is alleged that then shopkeeper Rajan, Bhai Khubi, Cheetah etc. came and started opposing the taking of samples. The team members explained to them but they did not agree.

It is alleged that the nominees even had a scuffle with Food Safety Officer Ashish Kumar Gangwar. It is alleged that the shopkeeper made noise and gathered nearby people and women. Apart from abusing the team members, they also threw oil, prepared kachoris, flour, vegetables etc. in the pan kept on the Kachori lid on the road, so that the team could not take any samples. Meanwhile, the area police was called to the spot and the accused fled from there. On behalf of Food Safety Officer Ashish Kumar Gangwar, a complaint has been filed against the named people in Bannadevi police station alleging obstruction in government work, assault, threatening to kill etc. Incharge Inspector Bannadevi said that a case has been registered in the matter and investigation is being done.
