World Bank declared it the poorest country in the world, 85 percent population below the poverty line.


There are a total of 197 countries in the world, but there are many countries which have not even become developing and whose population is living in poverty. Among these countries, there is a country which has been considered by the World Bank as the poorest country in the world. People in this country neither have a solid roof nor clothes to cover their entire body. So let’s know about that country.

This is the poorest country in the world
The poorest country in the world is Burundi. IMF and World Bank have considered this country as the poorest country in the world in 2023. 85 percent of Burundi’s population is living below the poverty line. Here people hardly get even two square meals a day. The situation is so bad that one out of every three people here is struggling with unemployment.

How much do people earn annually?
In this country, people are not able to get even the basic facilities like food, clothing and house. The annual income of people in this country with a population of 12 million is 180 dollars per year. That means here a person earns about 14 thousand rupees in a year. However, it is not that Burundi was always like this, this country was ruled by Britain and America. For some time, people were living happily in this country which became independent in the year 1991. But later when caste conflict started in the country, lakhs of people lost their lives. 

How did Burundi become the poorest country in the world?
The situation of this country kept worsening due to ethnic conflict and instability. There was ethnic conflict in this country for 9 years, after which political instability ruined the economy of this country and gradually this country reached the peak of poverty. Now the situation is such that it has been declared the poorest country in the world.
