Expansion

There was a time when Dileep, who was full of energy, was in high spirits. There was no shortage of money. Seemed that everything could be done. Decided to start a new work and got a tender of five crores. The work had just started when suddenly disappointment surrounded. Started being sad and lonely all the time. Distressed, the family brought him to the psychiatric department of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for treatment. Investigation here revealed that he is suffering from bipolar disease.

This is such a mental illness whose victim is sometimes full of self-confidence and sometimes his faith in himself is not even minimum. The afflicted person is unable to maintain balance in his life. His life gets divided into two poles of black and white. Out of 1000 people in the country, 5-10 patients are found with this disease.

Get well with timely treatment

If such patients get timely treatment, they recover completely. They should take their medicines on time, even if they get cured, they should not stop the medicine without doctor’s advice. Negligence in its treatment can be very costly. Many times the patient gets upset and takes wrong decisions due to which he and his family have to face a lot of problems. -Professor Dr. Lokesh Singh Srivastava, Psychiatrist, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital

Children are more at risk from mother and father

If someone’s parents had this disease, then there is a possibility of getting it in the next generation. It occurs in 75 percent of twins born from the same egg in the mother’s womb (monozygotic twins) and 25 percent in children born from two different eggs of the mother fertilized by different sperm from the father (dizygotic twins). The percentage is visible.

Many times the same disease also occurs due to decrease or increase in the level of neuro chemicals found in our brain. If the level of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain is very low then depression is more in such people but if the level of these chemicals becomes too high then the person becomes more hysterical, angry and aggressive. Don’t ignore them. – Dr. Ankit Daral, Former Psychiatrist, GTB Hospital
