World Heart Day 2024: If we look at the statistics of the last few years, there has been a continuous increase in the cases of heart attacks and heart related diseases. In these circumstances, if heart related diseases can be detected in time and if the patient gets the right treatment at the right time, then his life can be saved. In this matter, Gujarat has emerged as a better state which has shown a ray of hope not only to India but to the patients coming across the international borders. It is the tireless efforts of the Gujarat government that have helped Gujarat establish a model of excellence for the treatment of heart diseases in India.
World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29 September. On this special occasion, today we are going to introduce you to a hospital where thousands and lakhs of patients have been given new life. We are talking about UN Mehta Hospital of Gujarat. Many achievements have been recorded in this hospital, from giving a new life to a 4-month-old child to performing a successful heart transplant on a 16-year-old child. In fact, UN Mehta Cardiology and Research Center based in Ahmedabad has emerged as a ray of hope for the people suffering from serious heart diseases.

6 month old baby gets new life
Four-month-old baby Ghanshyam got a new life at UN Mehta Hospital in Gujarat. Actually this child had serious heart disease. However, the financial condition of the child’s parents, Hina Ben and her husband Suresh Bhai, living in Keshod of Junagadh district, was not so good that they could get their children fully treated. In such a situation, the child got a new life due to the school health program of Gujarat government and free treatment in the hospital and today he is living a healthy life.
Heart transplant gave new life
16 year old Pranay Singh Vaghela of Gandhinagar underwent heart transplant in this hospital, after which he got a new life today. Pranay’s heart transplant took place on 27 September 2022. Now two full years have passed and today Pranay is living a healthy life. According to Pranay, he was very scared before the surgery but the doctors made the transplant successful in a very good way and today he is living a healthy life after defeating the heart disease.

Hospital Achievements
Let us tell you that in the last 5 years, continuous achievements are being recorded in UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre. Here, the number of heart procedures was 13,615 in the year 2020, which increased to 29,510 in the year 2023, while till August 2024, 19,560 procedures were completed in the state. These figures in themselves are enough to show how this risky heart surgery is successfully performed in the hospital.
The hospital is also at the top in post surgery care. Outpatient visits in this institution increased from 15,747 in 2020 to 3,35,124 in 2023, while 2,41,023 patients have been treated in August Hospital. These patients are regularly monitored and given complete care after heart surgery.
The biggest thing is that Sach Hospital has become famous not only at the national but also at the international level. The number of international patients coming here was 21 in 2020, which has increased to 195 in 2023 and by August 2024, 134 international heart patients have received treatment here.
